This is a little project that I'm working on, and thought you might like a picture of the process as a teaser.

So, can you guess what this will be?

Baby Rain Boots

This is a little project that I did up over the weekend. Fairly easy, and oh-so-cute. I'm totally in love with the patterns designed by Elizabeth Alan of The Lovely Crow. They are simply adorable. I love just browsing her Etsy shop, and thinking about which project I'm going to tackle next. So fun.

Here are several pictures from different angles:

In other news, I have something very exciting happening soon. The tentative date for this very exciting happening is March 1st*, but you will have to check back then to find out what it is :).

*This date is subject to change. If it does, it will be being pushed out about a week or so. It will not be happening before March 1st, however, so you don't need to worry that you'll miss it.

Crocheted Headband

Okay, so I know, it needs a little work, but this is the headband that I made for Esther. I didn't measure properly, so it turned out a little small. That's why is seems to be sliding off her head a bit. Other than that, it's pretty cute.

From the front...

...and from the side.

This is seriously about one of the easiest crochet patterns out there. Only chains and slip stitches. To top it off, the pattern is a free download here
Stay tuned for more items made from patterns by the same patterns designer. I already have more to post about!

Coming Soon....

Today, we did something that I've been waiting to do for a little while....we went shopping.
Not clothes shopping, or shoe shopping, or grocery shopping. Nope, it's better than that. We went yarn shopping.
And you know what that means, right? Lots of new projects!
So, stay tuned, I have some really cute ones coming up.
In the mean time, I'll try to post about some other things that I've done up recently, and just haven't gotten around to posting about yet.

Little Hat with Interchangeable Flowers and Matching Booties

Back in January, I participated in the little "The first five people who comment on my Facebook status get a free homemade gift from me this year" thing that was going around. I thought it would be fun, and so far it has been. One of my pregnant (at the time) aunts was one of the first five to comment on that status, so I decided to make a baby gift for my little cousin, Grace. I figured that Aunt Marcia would get more enjoyment out of something like this than Grace would anyway.
So, I've had this little gift made up for awhile, but it took me along time to take pictures of it and get it sent.
I had every intention of posting about it here, but I wanted to wait until the gift was received before posting about it, because I didn't want to ruin any surprises. You do understand, right?
Well, it has been received, and I even have a couple pictures of Grace to share with you now. It was worth the wait, wasn't it?

Here is the first set.....

....and here is the second set

The neat thing is, both sets have the same hat, because the flowers are interchangeable.

I had in mind what I wanted to do in order for the flowers to be interchangeable, so I went to my Pinterest board, and found something that would work. I love Pinterest.

It  gets even better....it can be worn without the flowers! Three looks in one!

The flowers could also be buttoned n something else, for a different look.

I used different types/weights of yarns, so the sets turned out different sizes, but the plus side is that they'll fit her longer than two sets of the same size would :).

And now for a picture of each piece separately (other than the flowers):

For some reason, I had a hard time with the lighting on these, so that's why the color's off a bit.

This was the second color set that I made. I originally was only going to do one set, but had so much fun with the first one that I just had to do a second set.

Notice the little buttons? Aren't they cute?

And now, the good part :). Sweet little Grace wearing that hat with the reddish/maroon flower.

And with the blue flower. Isn't she precious? You're glad that I waited until I had pictures of her to post this, aren't you?

Okay, so now you want the patterns, right? And before you ask, no, these are not my original patterns. They're patterns that I found free online.

Okay, the pattern for the booties can be found here, the pattern for the hat here, and the pattern for the flowers here.

Now, for the changes I made:
On the booties, I didn't sew on the ribbon and button on the front. Instead, I sewed a cute little button on the side to make it look more realistic, like it buttoned and unbuttoned.
On the hat, I just added the button on the front, to the side a little, to be able to button the flowers onto.
On the flowers, I used the coordinating yarn, instead of thread, and used a bigger crochet hook, so that they turned out bigger. Also, I omitted rows 6 and 7.

Happy crocheting folks, I'd love to see pictures of what you've made!

Prime Rib, Cream Corn, and Mashed Potatoes

About a week or so ago, we made this really yummy supper, and I took lots of pictures, to share with y'all, and then never did anything with them. Today however, I'm finally typing up a post for you.

This folks, was the supper:
Read on to get the recipes and pictures to go with them.

The cream corn recipe was one I found online, and we just love. You can find it here. So yummy.

I started it in the crockpot at about 11 in the morning, so it had most of the day to cook. This picture just shows the corn and butter.

Here it is with the cream cheese added as well.
I did a 5lb bag of  corn, instead of just 4lbs, and it still turned out great.

Here is is with the sugar, salt and pepper added. Then I added the cream, and turned it on  low. Then all I had to do was stir it a few times throughout the day, and it was ready by supper.

Mmm

For the prime rib, I just took a regular, boring old roast, thawed it, seasoned it, and cooked at 300*. After and hour, I turned the oven off for two hours, it's very important that you don't open the oven during that time. Then I turned it back on for an hour. After that, I just let it set in the oven for another 20 minutes before taking it out and slicing it. So yummy and tender.

For the mashed potatoes, just cook however many potatoes you normally would for your family, and when they're done and drained, add a some butter, and seasoning salt, and mash well.

I used Morton's Nature Seasoning for the meat and potatoes. We love this stuff.

And the you have it folks, our supper.
